You may or may not know that VP is having some issues with some of their Moto related fuels. I have seen a few things on a couple forums as well as VP’s website but I thought it would be best to lay it out right here so you know what you may or may not have to deal with. Below are batch numbers that VP has identified as not meeting their quality standards. The issue stems from additives that went bad due to a defective storage tank. This is an updated list as VP recently learned through customer feedback and additional in house testing as there were additional batches that may be affected so VP added those as a precautionary measures. Besides replacing the fuel to the customer, if anyone had any fuel related issues that caused other out of pocket expenses to fix or repair their engine, VP will reimburse the customer for those expenses. VP has set up a process and a link for the customer to submit supporting documentation for those expenses. The link is:https://vpracingfuels.com/qa/
For fuel replacement, VP encourages the customer to go to their local VP dealer, distributor, or contact VP directly if you are having any difficulty exchanging fuel. The same link mentioned above can be used for this purpose as well. VP does not sell direct to all dealers as a lot of their fuel is delivered to the dealer through independent distributors. VP encourages the customer to check the batch numbers against the list before making a purchase. The batch number can be found below and to the right of the fuel name on the label. (As shown here in photo).
Not everyone is having issues, but VP stands behind their products and they say they will make it right for those customers that have had issues. VP put additional testing and quality procedures in place to prevent this from happening in the future. What are the signs/symptoms of the issues that these fuels below are creating? We explain a lot of these symptoms on The RMATVMC Keefer Tested Podcast Show #379 with Jamie Ellis from Twisted Development but some signs are:
- Slower feeling power delivery
- Rich/dirty feeling low end/low rpm response
- Build up in Injectors as well as intake ports of cylinder head
