I have been testing quite a few pipes/silencers for the 2023 KTM 250/300 as of late (FMF, Bills) and the Pro Circuit system is the latest that I have tried. The Works pipe and R304 Shorty silencer was tested on a recent Racer X Garage Build Husqvarna TC250 that I had the chance to ride. Pro Circuit has these in stock now and will set you back $334.95 for the Works pipe and $172.00 for the R304 Shorty.
The Works and pipe and Shorty silencer bolt on with easy and will not cause you any headaches. I prefer the raw look over the platinum look and to me the PC Shorty silencers have always been one of the best silencers on the market for any two stroke. Not to mention they have the best sound/pitch to them compared to other silencers on the market. Something about that bark that the R304 has, just gets me going!
Compared to the stock system the PC system will give you more pulling power out of corners, a healthier mid range rpm response and better top end pull! YES! It does all of this! After riding the stock system and PC system back to back at Glen Helen a couple times, I didn’t want to take the Pro Circuit package off, but for the sake of changing track conditions, I did. Coming out of the corners the TC250 now had some added pulling power in second gear yet didn’t sign off as quick as the stock system. Not to mention that it cleared up a little bit of the rich feeling the TC250 had on low rpm situations. Yes, the TC250 will still take some time to clear out when warming up but on the track the crispness or recovery of the PC system was much better than the stock system. Another added bonus was that I could carry third gear a little better with the PC system (still not vey lugable, but it does help a little) through corners and if I was bogging a little, a simple fan of the clutch and the Husqvarna was back into the meat of the power (unlike the stock system which was kind of lethargic in that area). Recovery feel is a big thing for me as I am pretty lazy because I have been riding four strokes for so long, so having that added mid range rpm recovery/response helped me in those tighter/ruttier corners that I seem to mess up in. My favorite feature about the Pro Circuit pipe/silencer combo was the top end pulling power I had going up the hills of GH. I now could let the TC250 eat longer in third gear without it revving out and allowed me to live in 2nd and 3rd gears longer than I could with the stock system. Instead of having to immediately shift out of corners, I could let it eat a little longer than with the stocker.
So what was the down side? Honestly, I found no down side to the Pro Circuit set up. There wasn’t one thing that I thought the stock system did better. Did the PC give me more low end RPM response? No, but it didn’t lose any. Past that the Pro Circuit pipe/silencer exceeded the stock system in all categories. What about compared to the other systems I have tried? I would say that the Pro Circuit pipe/silencer has been my favorite so far out of all the others that I have tried. The Bills and FMF are better than stock in most areas but possibly had a little less in other areas. The PC system either met or exceeded stock everywhere. That’s a win for me! The Bills has a little more low end than the PC but not as much top end. The FMF had about the same low end as the PC but not as much mid range.
I am not a huge two stroke guy but this Pro Circuit system took its time getting here, but it is worth the wait if I was a Husqvarna/KTM 250/300 owner! Call Pro Circuit at 951 738 8050 to order yours before they are gone. Trust me, they will be gone quick and then you’ll be stuck waiting!
