I have been logging a lot of hours on the Triumph TF-450 and have noticed the clutch on the British machine is a little too light and vague when under some average abuse. Triumph wanted to go with a lightweight clutch lever pull feeling and they succeeded but it doesn’t come with a little bite/grab. Being that the Triumph is already smooth/linear down low and needs a little more RPM response/recovery when in softer dirt a little more grab or pop from the clutch would be welcome.
I worked with the Hinson guys on a clutch pack that includes fibers, steels and a spring that is stiffer than stock. Once installed the clutch lever pull does become a little firmer for the rider but with that firmer pull you will get more engagement feel as well as more bite out of the clutch. Getting a little more grab from the clutch helps the Triumph TF-450 get more response from low-mid range as well as help recovery when trying to get out of softer dirt.
Another benefit is I get longer life out of the Hinson clutch plates over the stock plates which is also nice. Similar to a Yamaha, I will only get around 10 hours of clutch life from the OEM plates so going to the Hinson plates will give you longer life. For $299.99 it is a little more expensive than your average OEM clutch plate change but with this clutch kit from Hinson you will be getting a longer clutch life and more performance from your Triumph. This is one of the first things that should be on your list to get one you get your new Triumph TF-450 RC Edition. Part Number: FSC106-8-2501
